First check the signal source, routing and volume settings. Important: never turn the volume up to maximum uncontrollably. Then inspect the cable, connectors and cerumen filters. To narrow down the source of the issue, the earpieces can be swapped left to right: if the problem moves with the earpiece, the cause is likely the earpiece or filter; if the problem remains on the same side, it is more likely related to the cable, source or routing.
